But We Might Be Wrong!

No one ever likes to admit they’re wrong. In fact human pride is so great we don’t even like to entertain the thought that we could be wrong about something.

Recent events in our nation: The fake pandemic, the stolen election, the open borders, the free reign of terror allowed to BLM and Antifa have convinced most Christians that the Lord’s return is eminent. I am one of those Christians. It just seems impossible that the world could get any worse before His return. The Lord isn’t going to allow everything to erode right beneath our feet and leave us here to suffer through it. Therefore, I truly believe our time here is short.

BUT we have all been wrong in the past. I trusted Christ in June of 1970. Ten weeks later I left for Bible college. But I almost didn’t go. I told the preacher that led me to Christ that I thought that the Lord wanted me to go to Bible college but I didn’t want to go because it is obvious He was going to before I would graduate in 1973. He said, “If the Lord wants you in Bible college that better be where He finds you when He returns.” Best advice I was ever given! Three years later the Lord had “missed His scheduled return” and I graduated. The rest is history.

Any student of the Bible knows that the Old Testament prophets, even though God spoke with them, didn’t “see” a two-thousand year period we know as the New Testament. That’s pretty significant! If they can miss two-thousand years don’t you think we can miss the date of the Blessed Hope by a hundred or two?

How many times in the last 50 years have you heard someone say they were sure that the Lord was coming by_______? (Fill in the blank.)

The saddest thing we’re going to see at the Judgement Seat of Christ is all the Christians who never started a work for the Lord because it would take 5 or 6 years to accomplish and they KNEW He was coming back in the next few months? Now look how many years have slipped by.

Yes! I believe His coming is very very soon! So what am I doing? I am scheduling meetings for 2028, I am working on five new books, I am planning for the future of Treasure Valley Baptist Bible Institute… I’m looking forward to our 50th Anniversary on August 12! I would rather the Lord come and prevent me from finishing a project than have Him find me white-haired, bent over my cane reviewing all the things I never started for Him!

Jesus Christ may return this year. What should you so? Make your plans for 2023, ‘24, ‘25 etc. as though he weren’t. Why?

Because we might be wrong!

God bless you! It’s more fun for Dad to come home and see us working diligently on what He told us to do! Rapture is right around the corner so let’s get as many bonus points as we can!!!
